So far, the delay of the pickpocket with RC2 seems to be viewed positively by you. How does the glass P4A look in this context? Are the fittings sufficient, or do you then also use the corresponding glass?

How do you see the electrical contacts? More something for home automation or actually interesting for alarm systems or both?

It is always a matter of personal security needs and budget. You can always get in. Burglary protection is always an interplay of individual components and requires a holistic concept. Window contacts (open/closed monitoring) make sense for the alarm system for arming and home automation. Glass break sensors are only for the alarm system and are usually not visually appealing. Whether RC2n is sufficient or RC2 is required depends on the points mentioned above. Most builders I currently know choose RC2n for cost reasons. In general, the duration or probability of discovery is significantly higher than with old or standard windows. Burglars usually look for easier targets. Lights with motion detectors and cameras (with person recognition) also deter. Dogs the most, and attentive neighbors also help. I always say: fear is a bad advisor. A fortress/cage does you no good. Live as openly as possible. Better to have a small, well-anchored safe for irreplaceable items (photos nowadays are mostly digital and can be easily stored externally...) and the rest is then a matter for the insurance. It obviously looks different if you have art or similar things lying around the house. I am not assuming that here.

We opted for a manageable surcharge for RC2N, so at least not every dumb burglar can get into the house with a screwdriver. Without mushroom buttons, it is often enough if 1-2 adults push heavily against a patio door. Additionally, we have planned lights and motion detectors around the house.

What did I write? I wrote that you should have mushroom caps on the windows. The main burglary points ARE windows and patio doors, but only because without mushroom caps they can be opened almost silently with a simple screwdriver in under 20 seconds.

IF you have RC2N, it no longer can be done quickly and silently, but only quickly and loudly, or quickly and silently through the lock.

Who among you has multi-locking doors with drill-resistant cylinders?

Here too, including RC2 window contacts, AA, and all the bells and whistles.

But everything is relative. There are still areas where people don’t lock their houses. After two direct neighbors of ours were robbed, everyone more or less upgraded their security. As stupid as it sounds, you have to pose more effort for the burglar than the neighboring house. Then the risk of being caught increases, and most choose the easier target.

At €175 per window contact, switching service providers seems more important to me than discussing details. Otherwise, what Rick says. It is individual. Everyone will also tell you something different that supposedly helps. In fact, the likelihood of becoming a victim of a burglary is extremely low. Damage and theft are covered by the building/household insurance. What remains is the uneasy feeling that someone was in the house. What is that worth to you?
