My five cents as a committed Sat TV viewer, preferably Arte or the regional third channels. The dish is made of aluminum. Does not rust. The mast mounting must be very solid, the dish has to stand rock solid even in storms. If possible, the dish should not be mounted on the roof, but rather on the garage or something similar. You need to be able to reach it with a step ladder to change the LNB from time to time; LNBs are usually the source of errors with Sat. If water gets inside, it’s over. LNBs cost very little; I always keep one in reserve. Up to four TV devices can be connected with Quattro LNBs and without a multiswitch in the house. Then four cables run from there, one to every outlet, which is no problem in new buildings. Here, the Sat cable, or rather the Sat cables, there are three of them in our case, are led protected by a sheath from the garage roof to the roof overhang, then go along the ground to the three outlets, installed flush with sockets in the wall. The cost for everything including the dish and labor was 800,- with tax. It doesn't make sense to save on something like this.

So far correct, except for the "Quadro" LNB. Quadro is a brand for children's toys. :D Quattro LNBs are the ones that can only be used with a multiswitch, and Quad LNBs are the ones with four directly usable outputs. Just so the OP doesn’t buy the wrong one. ;)

Yeah, Arte sometimes has great programs... In the Realm of the Senses... um yeah, culture after all ;)

We are planning the dish near the exit roof window. A dish on a flat roof garage doesn't look good. But we still have a Selfsat/flat antenna from a previous living situation. That was also quite good and could be firmly screwed to a French balcony. I have to see if I can maybe repurpose it later for a garden shed.
Father-in-law has his dish under the roof overhang. You can’t get to it except with an 8m ladder and then you have to lean it against a beam. Up there, you're on your own... a local electrician did it. Better to put it on the roof and have a somewhat solid surface under your feet.

Don't place it like a trophy on the garage, but on its wall. Then you can reach it with a step ladder.

Unfortunately, that doesn’t fit in aesthetically or at all. I will place the dish on the roof in spring so that I can reach it from the exit window.
If is right, then I will lay the cable into the utility room and place my multiswitch there.
I have another question regarding the placement of the components:
We have a simple meter cabinet. Next to it, a sub-distributor for the heat pump. Above that hangs the fiber optic modem. The Fritzbox is on top of the meter cabinet. Next to it is a switch (a simple TP-LINK). Above that, the electrician has set up the Homeway wiring.
I don’t know if I can and want to fit all that into a network cabinet. But if the multiswitch goes in there as well and later my microserver, I don’t know if it will still “look good.” I would therefore probably have to wire LAN + SAT in one network cabinet in the future. Is there something like that? Everything I’ve seen so far are quite “deep” cabinets, but I prefer it slimmer (similar to the meter cabinet), also because I want to bolt it to the wall.
