Especially children and teenagers don’t watch any TV anymore. Either directly children’s shows on Prime/Netflix or when they are older, YouTube and Twitch.

I thought so for a very long time as well. However, I have now come to the conviction that a good and stable internet connection is more important. I can do without TV sometimes, but the internet MUST work. Streaming music, working from home, etc. Therefore, it's better to invest a bit more in a good network infrastructure.
But of course, everyone has to decide that for themselves.

It basically doesn't matter. With well-shielded cables, it has little to no effect where the multiswitch is located, and since you are planning something in the utility room, just put everything there and that's that.

The thing is, no matter how good your infrastructure is... the problems are mostly outside your network. I don’t know the last time I had internet problems that were due to my household. Even with acquaintances, it’s usually the provider. Okay, personally, I don’t care at all if TV doesn’t work for a few days. But for other people, it’s important, and IPTV is definitely more frequently affected by outages..

You are right. Unfortunately, it is not always perfect. I was more concerned about the weighting. Internet has become simply more important than TV reception in many areas. That's why, for example, I don't need a satellite system to ensure TV reception since I can rather do without it. Backup for the internet is more important, for example via mobile communications or otherwise.

Thank you for the many suggestions. Depending on how high the costs will be, we will at least install the device for a Sat system. If the whole thing amounts to a maximum of 400 EUR, I think it is manageable :)

Best regards
