Take a look at what kind of water meter you have. Probably a digital radio water meter. Then you don't shower 5 times a day, but stand under the rain shower for 1 hour. Not everyone has to blast and some people stick to the rules.

Nope, completely analog, no radio. And installed just 9 months ago.

Simply install subsurface irrigation. You neither see nor hear anything :) But we also have analog water meters.

This is how you usually start with a new build. For some, it stays that way, but many discover after a year or two their joy in garden design and then the flower beds increase more and more and the lawn less and less. Therefore, I would not create too many expensive and elaborate features at this point that might possibly have to be removed later. Just live in your place for a while, try out what you really like and what suits you. Even if you hated having to mow the lawn as a teenager, in your own garden it can suddenly bring great joy.
