We live in the Rhineland and it is usually warmer here than in other regions. Nevertheless, we regularly have frost in May - those dear [Eisheiligen].... We will not take this risk and will only sow the lawn after the [Eisheiligen]. The seed is too expensive, not to mention the work.

We are currently already planting everything out, so why should the lawn be especially susceptible to a bit of frost?

Our garden landscapers also sown in September, when the first frost could have come already. Then it just takes a few days longer.

In September, frost is probably only to be expected in mountainous regions.;)

Lawn is frost-sensitive as a young plant or seed. Therefore, people traditionally wait until after the Eisheiligen.
Moreover, planting balconies and containers is also postponed until mid-May.
The plants will thank you. Alternatively, you can also cover them when the temperature drops, as long as they are not frost-hardy plants.

20 years of horticulture ( [Schwiegereltern hatten einen Gartenbaubetrieb] ) have taught us this. Not everything our grandparents already knew is outdated today. ;)

Oh - yes. How much I regret that my grandmother's knowledge about herbs, mushrooms, and their effects/healing powers has been lost. Unfortunately, I was not interested in it back then and now it is too late. So now I am trying to gather it at least regarding herbs from various books. But - what little Hans doesn't learn, big Hans never will.

I am still learning :)

My grandma had a saying: You get old like a cow and still keep learning. :D
