Always green lawn (golf lawn) is neither low-maintenance nor ecologically valuable. You can already see this from the effort of robotic mowers (also controversial, especially regarding animal welfare and child safety) and watering (also controversial). Special grass mixtures can handle drought well – however, they are far from golf lawns and are not mowed as short. On the other hand, they tolerate children quite well. Flower meadows are also truly low-maintenance, but not necessarily suitable for playing.

I have the feeling has set his mind on a lawn mower robot as a toy and is now desperately looking for someone to confirm it. Rick, as a toy fan, is of course the ideal partner ;)

it may be that only a toy is being sought. However, many believe that a golf lawn is the ultimate and so easy to maintain. They then end up in other areas of the web and wonder why the green area is neither soft nor green nor lush.

We have 400 m² of lawn area and the rolled turf is in the south while in the north behind the house we sowed it ourselves for cost reasons. Sure, in the first year the south looked great. Now in the third year, I even find the self-sown one nicer. It was cheaper and is not as bumpy as the one in the south. The work is actually the preparation of the substrate and you have that with both variants. If you have already taken that on anyway, you can just sow it yourself. We have irrigation installed throughout the garden but to be honest, we haven’t needed it that often for the lawn. A robot is great if you don’t want to do any work.

I just looked out of interest... at first, everywhere promises something like €2.x. And when I enter the postal code and quantity, depending on the provider, it comes out somewhere around €6-9. So it seems to be either very region-dependent or just bait offers.

At first, I thought that too, but with every post, my feeling leans more in the other direction. But to each their own. Let's wait until the dog leaves a pile right in the middle of the beautiful grass area for the first time and then the robot drives over it in the evening ;)
