We have to take down the pavilion in the garden in 2 weeks, that will be quite an effort but it has to go with us. My husband stays completely calm about it but I will be glad when we have it behind us.

Really? It will take about 1 month for us. And how was it? What was there to eat? Were there many people there? I am curious

It wasn’t as big as the topping-out ceremony of our house. At that one, we had 45 sqm of our main room full of craftsmen, family, friends, and neighbors.

Nevertheless, the topping-out ceremony of our carport was done in style with the topping-out speech from our son, broken shot glass! and plenty of Jägermeister and Edelstoff. Present were: my two men, our daughter, her boyfriend, our son’s mate, my mother-in-law, and myself. We thoroughly celebrated the construction of the basic frame and grilled at the same time.

The four builders had earned that! The wood was heavy, and now and then you could hear a curse or a silly remark.

I enjoyed not having to do anything. I’ve been on crutches for three weeks.

Next Saturday: Topping-out ceremony for the log garage

Hello,
I haven't been here for a while. Our house construction is going very slowly and is taking many months longer than planned. :-(

But I keep checking in from time to time.

[Sommerflieder] is a nice idea, but that probably wouldn't work in my north-facing front garden.
I don't really want hydrangeas because they need acidic soil, and I don't want moorlands to be excavated elsewhere because of my garden.
And I will take a very close smell at the next boxwoods I pass by! I've never noticed that they actually smell like anything. o.o
Lobelia is a very nice idea, thank you.
I will probably also try clematis, as there are shade-tolerant varieties.

Best regards
