I can only fully agree with Bauexperte. The insulation craze is completely ridiculous. First, you build a house as airtight as possible to meet KFW requirements, and then you install all sorts of ventilation nonsense so that the place doesn’t rot away under your backside.
That is so sick, especially since the costs incurred for this, in my opinion, far outweigh the financial benefits of a KfW loan including the (ridiculous) repayment subsidy.
Even a normal Energy Saving Ordinance house is already more airtight than it should be.
I would recommend building a house according to the Energy Saving Ordinance to save a lot of money and to neglect the KfW loan or to simply knock on your house bank’s door and ask if they want to finance the KfW part themselves under the same conditions. The bank even offered this to us on their own initiative, and we completely ditched the KfW stuff.
