Questions about the Ikea Metod kitchen

How far the cooktop protrudes downward naturally depends on the thickness of the countertop. The manufacturer recommends installing an intermediate shelf. If you do this, only a low drawer with a 20 cm high front fits. In any case, care must be taken that the drawer does not rub against the cable. Which heights do you mean? The back panel's?

Jelemi, do you have a narrow drawer with a 20cm front under your cooktop? Or how did you do it with your Neff cooktop? With an intermediate shelf?

Sure – it was just meant as a starting point, since the _footprint_ is already mentioned there – you would have to measure the clear height (i.e. from the top edge of the drawer bottom to the underside of the front above) yourself – there are also countless different beverage crates or bottle heights.

@ jelimi: Yes, the cooktop really looks great! What about a narrow drawer? Can I also make a low drawer directly under the cooktop, or would it be too close to the cooktop, or has Ikea already taken all this into account?

How should that be universally taken into account? If at all, then only for Ikea’s own cooktops. Neff has quite precise regulations (here concerning the distance from the top edge of the countertop to the top edge of the drawer underneath), which are also available online (you have already mentioned the wall-side ventilation).

No, I don’t have a drawer under the cooktop but on the one hand the corner cabinet with a pull-out carousel and then the 20 cm cabinet to pull out. But a drawer would be possible.

I am not sure if I will find a suitable countertop at Ikea. I have already read that the countertops for Ikea carcasses must be 62cm and for an island then 124? So far, I only find countertops up to 120cm in length. Is there a supplier somewhere that makes them longer and offers a bit more selection than Ikea?
