A critical point is simply the self-consumption. It would be interesting to know how much still arrives in winter for the heat pump. We don't have one at all, as described above. I don't believe we would reach 30%! % self-consumption, as often described in many threads. The calculation stands or falls with that. Note, this is without an electric car, which also gets fully charged sometimes…. Take a look at the new video from [Finanztip] on YT, it doesn't look very good now, they calculate with 13%...

You can already do up to 10 kWp now. For income tax including income surplus calculation, it counts as hobby activity and for VAT, you can opt for the small business regulation. The latter usually isn’t worth it, because for the 5 years of organizational effort you basically get back all input VAT. But everyone can handle the property as they want ;-)
I actually assume that the 10 kWp hobby activity rule will be permanently raised further.

In my opinion, that should also be realized as soon as possible. It’s actually an outrage that it’s so complicated.

Back to the topic:

I think you should definitely plan for photovoltaic and then just wait 6 weeks for the order confirmation and take advantage of the subsidy, whatever the details may be.

A fresh hello from stormy NRW, we have 2 systems for comparison. 1x approx. 9.5 kWp + 8 kWh battery, then once a 6.5 kWp system with 4 kWh battery (both on the same roof with 45° exactly facing south). The 8 kWh battery allows a significantly better self-consumption at least in winter (system has only been running since September). We roughly calculated it and the larger battery (additional cost about €2500) pays off in under 10 years if the framework conditions remain similar. If electricity prices continue to rise sharply, it will pay off sooner (currently we have 32 cents per kWh here at GreenPeace Energy). Keep in mind that even large systems do not produce electricity at night in summer and possibly (early risers) empty the water supply so that the heat pump wants to reheat. Then the larger battery is advantageous. It can certainly be controlled, but reduces comfort then. Best regards Burkhard

the list was not exhaustive. There would also be follow-up applications, market master data register, different feed-in rates up to/over 10kWp, capping at 70%, or 60% with KfW, and so on. The list of nonsensical regulations is long...

Subsidies of all kinds distort the market. No matter how. Therefore, I do not think much of subsidies. What is the current situation in the photovoltaic market like?

Delivery difficulties, material shortages, and extreme workloads of specialist companies are already the norm. What will happen once there is a subsidy? Clearly, prices will rise by the amount of the subsidy. At least. Demand will explode even further and delivery times will become even longer than they already are.

So I would not wait for that. It is best to buy now what is available at all. BYD storage systems are supposedly hardly deliverable this year anymore. It is similar with Fronius inverters. Huawei is probably still available but less so as well. Who knows what next year will bring.

And then it will get tight.

I would also plan now and wait a few more weeks before awarding the contract. This should possibly be communicated right away as well. On the other hand, first we have to get a Sola on the table before Easter... Planning means: definitely the whole roof. If there is no roof yet, build the roof in such a way that there is not half a row left at the end. It's best to execute it cheaply as a sheet metal roof and then simply cover it completely. Pretty tiles would be wasted.

Currently, medium to large systems are still paid 100% through the feed-in tariff. Even without self-consumption, it is therefore worth protecting the roof from weather influences and too intense sunlight. ;-) Every kWh self-consumed then makes the cash register ring. And in five years, no one will avoid e-cars anymore...
