Hello everyone,

I have been following for some time (a great forum for all Ikea enthusiasts) - and I currently have a problem that is driving me crazy:

We bought an old building house two years ago and installed an IKEA kitchen. The piping in the kitchen was completely renewed beforehand. And for a long time, everything worked without any problems. In the past few weeks, the water has been draining worse and worse - and now it is practically standing completely.

Of course, a clogged drain is likely - but it is completely free. And a bit of research shows me that Atlant is a relatively "notorious" part regarding poorly/not draining water.
Today I disassembled the entire drain, cleaned it, and reassembled it, checked the drain again - it is now practically all in like-new condition. Nevertheless, the water continues to drain poorly.

I now suspect a (apparently) typical(?) ventilation problem for ATLANT, because WITHOUT the siphon the water drains (directly into the pipe) perfectly - and diverting the siphon into a bucket also works fine.

Long story short: The problem seems to be common - and real solutions are extremely rare in the various forums. Is there possibly someone who has replaced the entire drain with a standard siphon as a "solution"? I am currently planning to replace the sink and drain completely (because it is often said that a standard siphon can solve the problem) ...

If anyone can provide feedback quickly, I would be very, very grateful!

Stefan

PS I: Yes, I have already read the various posts here. But mostly there is no real problem solution or the problem is different (e.g. odor development).

PS II: In the bathroom, the drain from the LILLANGEN sink looks similar. Maybe the special IKEA siphons don’t like German standard drains?!?

Hello,

there apparently is no real solution to the siphon myth. The cases known to me ultimately were not caused by the siphon but by the clogged drain, since the problem persisted after replacement. The mentioned ventilation or venting problem I only know from this forum so far.

By the way, a little tip. Drains also gradually clog when, for example, frying pans are rinsed only with warm water. The grease then sticks to the pipes and connections and "grows." Therefore, always rinse with properly hot water and/or rinse afterward.

Best regards

Nayla

Brief addendum:

Although all symptoms pointed to the [Siphon], today a drain blocked deep down was identified as the cause.

Because [ATLANT] is (initially) relieved by this, we will therefore keep the sink and [Siphon] for the time being...
