The alleged advantages and disadvantages of the half-hipped roof can be found abundantly through Google. I find this roof shape more appealing than, for example, a classic gable roof. The disadvantage is that dormer windows can only be installed more awkwardly on the gable ends of the roof.
The gable ends in the half-hipped roof would be the gables – in the slopes above them, dormer windows could theoretically be installed, although I do not recall having seen that before, and it wouldn’t be awkward either (?)
The (solid) house builder surely has a mature concept to offer.
Regarding the general contractor, I dare to doubt that, but I already saw such things in the construction manuals of the aerated concrete manufacturers when the wall (AIS) was still standing.
