Good day everyone,

I need a bit of brainstorming for our terrace/walkway to the carport.

I will try to explain the situation as best as I can.
First, our front entrance stairs need to be renewed. Since we want the terrace to be level with the ground, probably 2 additional steps need to be calculated.
The idea was not to make the staircase "straight ahead" (since with a total depth of 5m, the terrace would otherwise take up too much space) but to plan it to go "to the right."

Here you can see the two variants.

The disadvantage is that the path to the carport gets longer, or you would have to walk in the opposite direction first.
I hope it is understandable from the pictures.

The green outline is the "entrance" to the carport. This protective wall part will be removed, the other two elements will remain.

We are now a bit unsure about what makes sense and what doesn’t. Maybe someone has a completely different idea or can provide good arguments.

Depending on the stairs, we have to accommodate our already existing garden table (2m x 0.9m) plus chairs on the terrace (which has a size of 6.70m x 5m).

The table/chairs will remain there all year round, as we are also planning a roof for the terrace.
So far, the table was at option 1.
The white line shows where the terrace should end (plus roof). However, the cars have so far been parked elsewhere. So it was not in the way.

I would be very grateful for ideas and advice.

Best regards, Mery

You’re not really going to worry about maybe a 1.5m detour now, are you? You can just as well build the stairs in the other direction.

Do I understand correctly that you want to raise the entire terrace by approximately 1 meter? What is supposed to happen with the door to the extension?

Making the stairs in the other direction will probably be a bit cramped, damn, you would end up quite close to the wall.

No, it's not about the 1.5m.
I'm just considering the most logical thing first.
Of course, as far as possible, you take the shortest path.
If we make the stairs "turning right," the table stands in the middle; where do we then pave the path from the terrace to the carport? I don't think I've explained that yet in my thread. Sorry.
But that's exactly the next question.
For me, it all hangs together... And in the end, it's not about 1.5m of walking distance, but about making it as practical to handle as possible.

No no. The terrace is supposed to be level with the lawn area. It's basically about 20 cm that the terrace will be lowered and the stairs will have to be extended accordingly.

Which door to which extension do you mean? I'm a bit confused right now. The white door that can be seen in one picture - "salmon-colored shed"?

I would make the terrace with a ground-level exit from the terrace door. Then you can make a staircase to the garden however you like. Additionally, a small descent to the outbuilding ([lachsfarbener Schuppen]) - like a small cellar staircase. I find that much more attractive than having to go out of the house first with several steps.
