The relatively small children's rooms compared to the overall size have already been mentioned, as well as the fact that the bathroom upstairs can be accessed from 2 doors. That means the children never know if a parent might come in?! Also, the shower is right next to Child 1, who will be thrilled to bits if they don't have to get up early but everyone else showers next to them.
The open architecture is desired, you write. Ok, tastes are just different; and if you think it's great to sit at the dining table and have the toilet door, guest room door, and garage door in view, then of course that's possible. Cosiness looks different...
Then there is an open space in the living room that will ensure your children get plenty of your activities in the living room and kitchen. Vice versa as well; this is especially wonderful during the teenage years ;)
Also, in winter, every time the front door is opened, a blast of cold air will sweep through the whole house. That’s why people invented practical things like a hallway.
For 2 people, I find this expensive yuppie pad absolutely fine. For a family with 2 children, I find it rather horrible and impractical. Basically, this is a 2-person house in which you have squeezed in 2 children’s rooms.
