You hopefully mean the situation, and not the OP - spoken in full sentences the difference would be clear
I didn’t want to be unclear, I’m probably not clear on the difference between a property developer and a general contractor.
There doesn’t necessarily have to be a difference, insofar as many property developers also act as general contractors. So it can be the same contractor, the difference lies in the legal relationship to you: the GC builds on your plot of land, which already belongs to you, your house; the property developer builds on his plot of land his house (even if according to your wishes) and sells you the plot along with the house. Because the contract is often concluded before construction begins, this setup is confusing for many buyers and they feel like builders, although they are buyers. It would have become complicated in your case if the developer contract had been terminated - then you would have been obligated to accept a garage on a property that didn’t belong to you. That would have really gone badly, compared to which the downspout is a tiny scratch that will be healed with “heal, heal little geese.”
