Some things are also done a bit more elaborately for one's own pleasure than necessary, right?

Automatic irrigation is convenient and helps maintain the garden. Without automatic irrigation, you will never have a "proper" lawn. Manual watering just can't keep up. Even during holidays, beds and hedges receive sufficient water. I see the use of fresh water as more problematic here. The area measurement is missing. For lawns, you can expect about 15-20l/m2/week... That adds up to several cubic meters of water. Therefore, it is better to build a large cistern and drain everything there that is possible. With a large pump, you then also have good pressure and flow rate so that you need fewer zones and thus fewer valves, etc. Watering time also decreases because not many zones have to run one after the other.

Thank you very much for the answers.

We don't have a cistern because water prices are quite low here and a cistern does not pay off in the medium term.

Can you justify that? It is clear that better quality components ensure a longer service life, but are there other advantages of Expert over Eco?

I also initially tried strip sprinklers. But since these are always too narrow, I got a better deal with the circle sprinklers (are they called that?). The pictured property area is about 1200 sqm (including the house area).
With the sprinkler placement, we tried to reduce costs. The relevant areas were shown in the planner as "well watered" or "somewhat under-watered". The most important spots were each "well watered". We are willing to accept the less well-watered spots to save costs.

Is your water that cheap? Let's say of your 1200m2 property, 600m2 remain as lawn area. 15-20l/m2/week are needed. Irrigation for half a year minus one third as natural rainfall: 600*20= 12,000l/week * 52 = 624m3/year / 2 = 312m3 * 0.6666 = 208 m3 fresh water per year. Beds, hedges, etc. are added. A cistern has the advantage that you can buffer heavy rain. Not only for your sake but also for the sewage system. There you could install a strong pump and thus save at least half of the valves/circuits. It never pays off. But fresh water is not consumed or do you already operate a nursery? It is qualitatively the sweet spot. Especially the connectors and housing are pressure regulated which simplifies the whole thing considerably. I can only recommend that you do everything right from the start. It actually shouldn't come down to a few more sprinklers and valves. With a new system, you don't have to dig, etc. DVS is by far not cheap everywhere. PE-HD pipes, connectors, etc. are cheaper in other shops. Valve boxes to build yourself are also cheaper. Hydrawise control is also available in many places...

In some municipalities, you can apply for a second water meter for garden irrigation. This way, you at least save on sewage fees.

Usually not cost-effective. Meanwhile, there are sometimes high requirements for [Gartenwasseruhr].
