Free? - in this case, I would rather say: futile, but not for nothing! You will have to pay for the house according to your plan - with the described lack of skills/experience as a planner, you will literally be "building the first house for an enemy." A GC "architect" will not improve the quality of your planning but will simply submit to the building authority exactly what you have botched. If nothing is inadmissible in it, nothing will be changed.

That means: this way there is a very high risk that you will get a "I had imagined it differently" house and then unfortunately have to admit: no, you drew it exactly like that.

Take the area, then bite off the first room from it and see what is left on the plate, then bite off the second room – that already hurts just to read. The biggest failures occur with this method, by the way, with square floor plans. And/or it leads to very convoluted "Bauhaus" villas.

If the BU doesn’t understand what you mean, there is something messed up with your ideas. Everything else can be explained with simple words and additional sketches on the desk mat. Misunderstandings arise when a layperson tries to explain unrealistic, non-functional, or unfeasible ideas.

Use homebyme, but show it to us first before you embarrass yourself with the BU.

Hello BauNoobie,
I don't particularly like SweetHome either.
I can recommend "homestyler" to you. Quite intuitive, also with a 3D function. Pay attention to a few details:
When moving walls always press Ctrl+mouse at the same time,
when you have finished drawing a wall/a room, press the Esc key, otherwise you will never finish drawing walls ;)
and of course save often!

With such software, I find it pleasant that you get a sense of room size with interior design/people, which is not possible with "hand drawing".

Exactly with hand drawing you get a feeling. You don’t just click insert [Sofa], you take your real measurements, you position the furniture. You see, oops, that is only 40cm distance. A bit more than the sheet in front of me. Too tight

I understand the point behind it. For a first impression, it would be too much work for me :D On top of that, I can orient myself better in 3D

If you have very precise or unusual ideas, you should go into detail beforehand.

I find 3D confusing. I never looked at the 3D drawings of our house.
If you're not sure whether the distance is sufficient, it's better to mark off the area with bottles or something similar or quickly move the table.
