Thank you very much for the numerous responses. I will take a closer look at homebyme and homestyler over the weekend.

I actually find my ideas very simple and well thought-out when I explain them to friends and family, but the new drafts from the GUs take forever and, secondly, they just aren’t exactly what I imagined.

If I produce something over the weekend, I will share it here.

Explain it to me: Is it more work with pencil and paper than on a PC or tablet? I can make you a sketch, your PC wouldn't even be started yet... I wouldn't even know that drawing with a pencil has anything to do with work ;)

First of all, you draw in 2D anyway... you can look at 3D when weeks or days of "work" have led to success.

From the tens of thousands of posts that I have read here in more than two years of almost daily forum visits, I can tell you one thing for sure: the obtuseness of a GC planner / draftsman is a constant; i.e. it is not diminished by how detailed / professional / illustrative a client communicates.

Posts like: "Hello, I’m back. Attached you will see the latest drawings from our architect. Unfortunately, the fool didn’t move the windows / didn’t rotate the staircase / still left the double sink in / ... / ... even though we discussed it fifty-something times" I read from clients communicating with their "architects" in 3D Dolby Surround Cinemascope Fujicolor exactly as often as from those who edit catalog floor plan screenshots with paintbrush-eraser or even scribble by hand.

You are obviously more skilled with the pencil than I am, and that's okay ;)

Seriously and not ironically meant: do you have any tips to prevent this? So far it hasn't happened to us, but with detailed floor plan planning, it could happen to us too, who knows :/
