Photovoltaic system / heat pump, do you have 2 meters?

No, heat pump electricity tariffs are now also available nationwide and can be specifically searched for on [verivox], for example. For billing, a virtual market location is created that performs the calculation of the meter cascade and reports to the supplier.

Hello everyone,
to avoid starting a new thread, I’m attaching my question here.

We are building with Schwörerhaus. The construction appointment is planned for November/December. I currently have an offer for a photovoltaic system with storage for the gable roof.

I work for a local energy provider. The annual basic fee for the electricity meters is waived for me, so I only have to pay the pure electricity costs.
Would you in this case take two electricity meters – one for the heat pump and one for the household electricity?

Would the photovoltaic system and/or the storage be connected to both meters, or do you have to decide which electricity meter the photovoltaic system produces electricity for?

You will have to run a tariff comparison or check with your employer how much the price advantage for heat pump electricity would be in your case.

You have to decide, unless your grid operator/metering point operator offers cascade metering (metering concept 8).

I would get household electricity for 29.xx cents/kWh and heat pump electricity for 23.xx cents/kWh.

As far as I understand, my energy provider or employer does offer cascade measurement. However, the contacts for this will only be back in the office next week.

I will sign the offer for the photovoltaic system later today.

Our heat pump requires about 2000kWh per year. 60% comes from the photovoltaics, i.e. about 800kWh grid consumption. With your six cent tariff difference, that's 48€ per year. Even if it were double, I would choose the simplest option (i.e. one meter).

With the values mentioned, the conclusion is understandable.
However, 2000 kWh is little and 60% coverage by photovoltaics is extremely high, so the ratios may shift slightly depending on one's own "reality".

But yes, you don't save hundreds of euros with it, for us it is just under 100€ per year.
