Photovoltaic system: Advantages and disadvantages, experiences, worthwhile?

IKEA enters the photovoltaic market with interesting prices. There will be a lot of movement in the future!

If their offers are as interesting as those of the energy suppliers, I do not believe that at all. Especially since the market does not have to get going at all, it has been booming for years. The expansion rates worldwide are consistently high, new plants are being opened, and the module price is continually falling.

Edit: "A completely installed, turnkey photovoltaic system is supposed to cost from 4730 euros including VAT" for 2.2 kWp with poly modules. That is 1806€ net per kWp. Anyone who buys that must be crazy. But it seems that larger systems are more attractive in terms of price.

We had our photovoltaic system with 8 kWp installed last week. Now we are just waiting for the meter installation by the grid operator, then the electricity production can start!

Photovoltaics is basically always worthwhile! Even if you only feed in and have 20% self-consumption. The system pays for itself after 10-14 years. After that, it generates money. Modules have a 25-year performance guarantee (87% of nominal power after 25 years) and the inverter has a 12-year warranty.

Since we heat with an air-water heat pump, I work a lot from home and have a large aquarium, I expect at least 30%-40% self-consumption. The system is prepared so that via an interface the air-water heat pump can be controlled in case of photovoltaic surplus and the hot water tank or the underfloor heating can be "overheated." That means when there is too much photovoltaic power, the hot water is initially heated to 50°C instead of 45°C. This allows the air-water heat pump to pause longer with hot water preparation when no photovoltaic power is available. It is basically an energy storage. The same applies to the floor heating. It can be heated slightly more within the comfort range to store photovoltaic power in the form of heat.

Assuming 10 years, we're talking about a 10% return. The compensation is guaranteed and fixed for 20 years. The insurance for the system is also cheap, the guarantees on the modules are 10 years or longer. The only thing that can happen is a broken inverter. Where else do you get such high returns with so little risk?
