Own effort - What can be sold well at the bank?

We made our cost calculation back then without EL. We were able to - and did not have to - provide EL where it made sense for us in terms of time, finances, and craftsmanship. We coordinated this with our GÜ and the craftsmen. The money saved was then invested in extras or used to replenish our buffer. It's also nice if at the end of the most expensive private project you will probably ever undertake, there is still some (financial) buffer left.

If I have a house built on the plot for a total cost of €620,000, then I assume a corresponding income and an appropriate hourly wage. Whether it is really necessary to replace the craftsmanship with own work for this amount,
- which probably takes twice as long as a craftsman needs,
- robs friends and acquaintances of their free time or vacation,
- incurs additional costs for renting or buying equipment,
- ultimately has no warranty, and
- may incorrectly assess the preliminary work due to lack of knowledge?

Figuratively speaking, it is like Mr. Winterkorn (or now Mr. Müller) personally standing at the VW production line with his wife for a month, and because it runs too fast for him, he halves the speed of the entire production line. In the end, he pats himself on the shoulder and says, "I have saved two workers' salaries this month."

Ok, the drywall seemed quite a lot to me. We paid significantly less for labor and materials. But for us, it was only the upper floor ceiling (solid construction).

Just out of interest, how much did it roughly cost you for the solid construction?

We did no own work in drywall construction, so I can't tell you that. You can't generalize that anyway.

That also depends, for example, on whether you have solid interior walls, a solid ceiling compared to the upper floor, etc. If both are given, then there is only a little drywall left to cover the pre-wall installations, and that probably has to be done precisely in the schedule chain on a specific day.

Something completely different, as it sounds in the post above, is when the entire house consists of drywall!? Prefabricated house in timber frame construction?
