For clarification: So when I talk about bargains, I mean significantly below the RRP, and in our case at a price of 900 euros. We actually hadn't planned on a combination appliance either, but with this offer we did start to consider it. The matching built-in microwave currently costs about 450. So it's an easy calculation why we decided on it. And an inexpensive microwave around 150 is going into the pantry as a second device anyway, in case it ever gets stressful cooking-wise (but it is already in the family’s possession).

And, joho78 saves the space and might eventually upgrade to the combination of explosive devices, which I consider quite ideal. Oven with pyrolysis and integrated microwave as well as steam oven. This then allows combined use:

And, where houses are often built without basements, the utility/technical room is usually not the ideal place for a microwave, especially since the path is rather impractical.

Two ovens in the kitchen would of course be a dream. I have never owned a microwave in my life and wouldn’t want one either. So far, I have managed to warm everything that was cold without radiation.

...there I agree with jbt, we have also had the kombi for over 20 years.

We mostly (85%) use the kombi. Baking sheets etc. can stay inside. We only use the large oven for large quantities and as a steam oven. To even out the height difference, we also ordered a warming drawer.

I never thought we would use this drawer so often!

We have now also decided on such a combination device and are curious. A really silly question: Unlike a conventional microwave, nothing inside rotates, right? And: Do you also use the microwave supportively for every baking process?

In addition, we then got a steam cooker - but it cannot bake.
