The room is simply not suitable for a work island. It is too narrow for that, and the length does not need to be further emphasized because of it. Since we are not in a wishful thinking scenario here, the key issue of "long" has to be somewhat mitigated. The nice thing are the windows, slightly higher and elongated, so they invite you to breakfast here, with enough distance to the actual dining area. The kitchen here would be a normal two-liner, which is somewhat wider than optimal, but with kitchen units that could possibly be made a bit deeper, e.g. 75 or 80 instead of a deep island, one minimizes the space in between to 150... they are RBM anyway. With the tall cabinets, you could still generate storage space on the side, i.e. between the back wall and the wall. Instead of the rectangular table, I can imagine a modern corner bench, basically an Ikea hack made from Kallax or something, and then a round table in front of it. I find my more than spontaneous idea more than brilliant.
