Hello everyone,

we are planning to build a single-family house with two full floors and a gable roof (22°) without eaves. The following considerations are on the table:
(1) Light gray smooth roof tiles and light gray wood-aluminum windows: With this, I can't go "wrong." However, it naturally looks like the usual bland standard.

(2) Red smooth roof tiles and wooden windows (possibly oak?): We like this option best visually, but with wooden windows, we are concerned that they might "lose" their color and turn gray after just a few years. Does anyone have experience with this?

(3) Red smooth roof tiles and wood-aluminum windows: Here we have the problem that we do not want gray windows with a red roof, as we don’t like that. The question to you: Has anyone discovered a great RAL color that matches red roof tiles?

We are aware that this is a total matter of taste, but we simply hope for a bit of input from you.

Your mistake of "not being able to go wrong" can be easily cured (with the forum search keyword "Pantone" you will find a lot of reading material from me on this); regarding the window material combination then with "wood-aluminum" or "wood/aluminum." I don't understand the concern about the lack of lightfastness of the impregnation/glaze, where should it be at risk on the interior side?

Visually, I would leave the roof aside and choose the windows. You hardly see the roof anyway on the 2-story building, so it hardly matters.

We are not concerned about wood-aluminum windows, but about solid wood windows, that they will suffer visually on the outside due to the lack of an eaves overhang and will quickly turn gray.

Pure wood windows are even more expensive than wood/aluminum ones, and there are few good manufacturers for both. However, there are convincingly authentic wood decor laminates available for both pure aluminum windows and pure PVC windows. Presumably, you will do best with coextruded PVC (e.g. from Gealan) with wood decor lamination on the inside, and an aluminum front door.
