So, the lifespan of plastic windows is about 20 years. Wood-aluminum about 35 years. This means the additional investment definitely pays off. And not to mention the higher living value.

Take the wood-aluminum, we have had them for a few years in our new building and are super satisfied. Back then, we received very different offers, so it's really worth comparing here. Price range of about 50%!

I believe plastic windows last forever, what is supposed to rot in that plastic?

I rather think 20 years for wood aluminum and 35 years for plastic.
That way around.

Do you have any photos of yours?

Where do these year indications come from? Nothing has changed in high-quality plastic windows even after 100 years. I also wanted wood-aluminum because it looks more valuable inside and outside, but objectively it has no advantage. The additional costs were about 70%... so we ended up choosing plastic after all. Expensive ones also look good.

The plastic on the outside will discolor over the years, the plasticizer will leach out, then it will become brittle. Aluminum on the outside lasts significantly longer. Wood or plastic on the inside is a matter of taste. I simply prefer wood on the inside.

However, with some plastics, there is the problem that they warp/bulge during the first major heat. Afterwards, complaints are made to the window manufacturer. Of course, he had never encountered the problem before and therefore installs stronger fittings and tightens the mushroom head anchors more firmly.

The issue is due to the dark-colored large-format windows....

P.s. we have such a plastic window from a very large German profile manufacturer from the local window manufacturer. (2009/2010).
Our color: basalt gray

Acquaintances have the same profile - different window manufacturer - same problem.
Color: anthracite

Neighbors also have a dark window profile from a cheaper manufacturer - his problem...
Color: anthracite

Conclusion for us: dark-colored plastic windows never again or only in small formats.
