That's true, a bit more living space in the open kitchen-living area and less terrace space would also have been quite good for us. The apartment was the first really good option to buy something that meets our criteria within the small radius we have been looking in over the past 2 years. You then have to live with a few compromises. Overall, we find the layout very good otherwise :)

Thank you very much for your input! The result is: The sliding door stays as drawn in the plan and opens to the right as planned :D We will then decide whether it will be option B or C as soon as we can enter the finished room and get a better feeling for the space.

I also find Option C the nicest. Although I would find D cozy too - then the dining table could be a bit bigger (perhaps on one side with a comfortable upholstered bench) and the large room with kitchen and dining area would be the focal point, while the couch corner would be a lounging and retreat area. This would also have the advantage that more kitchen and possibly required pantry cabinets could fit. But the thing with the connections is just the way it is.

(Option E is my favorite, though not feasible: to convert part of the terrace into a conservatory and put the dining table there  )

I have to be honest, I totally misjudged the kitchen topic for a couple (in our case). We have more tall cabinets, more counter space than you have in total, and quite little clutter. And I had to extend. For 3-4 people, you will have to make some serious compromises there. Tell your wife :)

Kitchen planning is next for us. The developer gave us time until 08/30. But even in about 8 sqm you should be able to manage something (I hope). We actually only cook with the Thermomix anyway ;)

We had actually considered that too :D Maybe I'll just jokingly ask the developer if that would be possible

I suspected that. It's called food preparation. I hope it even has a place to stand. But you're right: if you limit yourself to that, you don't need much kitchen space for baking trays and such.
