Hello,
So far, you give me a sober and factual impression – don’t let yourself be scared off
Thanks for the compliment
Don’t worry, I won’t be scared off. I was just not 100% sure about the legal situation, but my suspicion was confirmed after your and others’ responses.
Apparently, there was no recording of the phone call; I was called by the DTE and not the other way around. So the usual question like in call center calls did not come up.
I could now follow your good advice and write a nice letter to the guy at the builder’s consultation, argue back and forth, etc., but I will follow ChristianF’s good tip. So I will call the sales guy and book the pure telephone tariff “Call Plus.” It costs 18.95 (analog) or 26.95 (ISDN) and has a 6-day cancellation period. With the move, of course, I will keep my current telephone/internet provider, which is easily possible thanks to the 6-day cancellation period. The special charm of this solution is that you beat Telekom at their own game
Regardless, I have written to the Federal Network Agency and asked for their opinion.
And since we are just talking about telecommunications providers: Kabel Deutschland charges an outrageous €999 to pull a cable through a (to be laid by me) empty conduit and to mount the connection point in the house on the wall. Kabel Deutschland’s “main cable” even lies on my property, so no expensive civil engineering work in public street land would be required. Nevertheless, they insist on the €999 because it is a flat rate that would generally cover civil engineering work.
That is too outrageous for me and I will not be a customer there.
Two years ago, KD still had a tiered price model and in my case I would have paid only €200. Connections that required civil engineering or similar work were accordingly more expensive.
