We were told these are more robust. A steel bathtub doesn’t scratch or discolor and is also more hygienic!? The price difference isn’t that big either, is it!?

But why unnecessarily put up a wall in such a small bathroom that makes the space look smaller and casts shadows? A glass wall doesn’t have tile joints that need constant cleaning. Glass can be kept quite clean for that.

Yeah, you’re right... we’re also considering whether to get the equipment ourselves because of these outrageous surcharges!? The two big bathroom online suppliers (one of them even has a branch near us) also have installers who will then install the stuff. In the end, you could probably save quite a bit that way. The question is to what extent the property developer will go along with that. They’re not stupid either...

Who tells such things? What are you doing in your tub? Normally there should be no problems with acrylic either. Just have your general contractor offer you both options. From experience: A tiled wall casts more shadows and makes it darker than a glass wall; but it is easier to clean (no streaks and you don’t see lime scale and water spots nearly as much). And of course the opposite is also true

The problem is probably the tiler. Sometimes they are a bit picky when it comes to sealing the tub, as there are different sealing options during installation. Since we also organized the tiler ourselves, we were able to sort it out.
Best ask your [BU].

Good morning,

we had a meeting with the construction managers yesterday and now have the following consideration:

1.) We organize the complete ceramics (bathtub, shower tray, washbasin, toilet) + fittings ourselves (brand products) and have them installed by a company we hire ourselves. The standard products will be fully credited to us. The builder would then provide the warranty up to the connections. The executing company will only guarantee the work performed and of course not the products we purchased. The advantage would be that with this option we are likely the cheapest and can plan our bathroom (+ guest WC on the ground floor) as individually as we want (see proposal from jochen104). The shower tray and bathtub would have to be installed first and then tiled afterwards.

2.) We take the bathtub (however, the corner bathtub solution would not be possible -> too expensive, only the 180x80 cm) and the shower tray (100x100) from the bathroom exhibition and have them installed by the builder. The remaining items such as washbasins, toilets and fittings we would keep as the "standard" from the builder – but would not have them installed and instead install our desired equipment ourselves afterwards. This way one would have full warranty for bathtub & shower. The remaining standard products could be partly sold and partly set aside for the later expansion of the bathroom in the attic (only a preparation is planned).

Best regards
Gatho
