I have one more quick question, maybe you have a good idea about this. Your experience in this regard is much greater.

The vanity cabinet alone (2x 70cm wide, double countertop washbasins are planned here) is supposed to cost 1950 EUR. In addition, there are 900 EUR for the "worktop", 230 EUR for the two tap hole drillings, 65 EUR for the space-saving siphon, and 80 EUR for the strainer valves. That makes about 3,200 EUR – and that was the cheapest solution at the bathroom showroom! Phew... that really hits hard and we would like to save money at this point. Do you have any ideas? We have chosen two very nice marble countertop washbasins. Unfortunately, the developer/general contractor says that you either have everything done by them or nothing at all.

Do you have any ideas? I wanted to try speaking again to see if they would install a cabinet that we provide (as the only exception), but I have little hope for that.

Best regards

We ordered all our bathroom furniture from the furniture store. In our case, the vanity cabinet was then hung under the mounted sink (it of course matched the series exactly – you have to do some research beforehand).

With your above-counter sinks, the cabinet would probably have to be installed first, and then the installation would be done by the plumbing company. But that should also be possible.

To be honest, I didn’t want such an above-counter sink in the main bathroom. I’m somehow glad with our large basin that can also be cleaned very easily and quickly.

Exactly, if that would work out, that would be fine. So, in principle, that wouldn’t be an unusual procedure? We have the feeling that they are not very flexible there.

It may well be that we will see it that way in X years too – but right now, we both feel like having above-counter washbasins.

The alternative would be to find a carpenter and have him make it custom. Neighbors had a washbasin made for around €2,500 with a length of 180cm, I believe.

It was too tight for us, so we got the one with 160cm including a mirror cabinet and accessories from Burgbad. It would cost around €3,800 at Reuter as well. The ready-made parts are not cheap. But your price is not entirely unrealistic.

For us, it was not a problem. But the furniture was only assembled afterwards.
Whether that is a problem for your provider, you will only find out by asking.

Somehow it sounds to me as if you think I am already 70.
But I am only 30 and my wife is even younger.

Thanks for the tip. We’ve already seen a nice and affordable alternative at a furniture store, we just need to clarify whether the builder/plumbing contractor will go along with it.

Yes, I’m curious.

Hehe – oh nonsense, that’s not what I meant. Just wanted to say that after X years of use we might also say “oh, we should have done that differently.” But first we want something new -> above-counter washbasin.

Best regards & have a nice weekend!
