I say: it’s possible. With a lot of sacrifice in everyday life and willingness to compromise on the property: (location, size, features).
You then have to completely say goodbye to cost traps like fast internet at home, a mobile contract with a new smartphone every year, restaurant visits (incl. delivery services...), brand products during weekly shopping, branded clothing (& shoes), etc. The cost of living must somehow be reduced to just above Hartz4 level. Then the salary is mathematically sufficient.
Don’t get me wrong: I don’t want to live like that either, but people should be allowed to make the decision themselves. I believe there are people who accept a several years long dry spell for the dream of owning a house. Currently, €1000-1500 installments with the given salary are a lot; in at most 10 years you’ll laugh about the €1500 because by then you can only just rent a 45sqm shoebox in cities for that money.
The fact is also, if something goes wrong in life: illness, divorce or something similar... then there is no safety cushion and you can go straight into private insolvency and are in a significantly worse position than if you hadn’t forced the house purchase.
