Hello everyone,

I am currently planning my first Ikea kitchen for my new apartment (single household) and sooner or later everyone who researches in more detail probably comes across this forum. ;) In the meantime, I have also read up a bit and picked up one or another good tip and incorporated it into my planning. Thanks already for that.

Nevertheless, I would be very happy if someone of you could take a look – you surely have the more trained eye. The kitchen is planned to be assembled by Ikea, since I do not trust myself with that. I have read that the prices are comparatively high, but I think the people who commission Ikea know the kitchens best and can also solve any problems that may arise most easily?!

It is an open kitchen, see floor plan of the apartment:

My questions / open points:
First of all, what do you generally think of my planning so far?

Due to the connections (water connections and wastewater on the left side 50-70cm from the wall projection, power connection for cooktop and extractor hood on the right side 138cm from the window wall), the scope for design is not that big. Or is one still flexible, since the Ikea assemblers can easily move the connections to other places?

To the right of the dishwasher, a Bosch fridge/freezer combo is to be placed. I would like to have more countertop space there, i.e., to the left of the fridge/above the dishwasher, but I have no idea how to solve that, since the sink and the draining area take up a lot of space. I could turn the sink around, but then the draining area would "butt up" against the wall, which is surely impractical and also doesn’t look good.

Also on the opposite side: I would like to have more countertop space around the cooktop, but have no solution approach, since the extractor hood should be where it is currently planned. I would like to avoid the 40cm wide base cabinet, for example.

For the fronts/drawers, I tried to achieve a uniform division, which worked quite well except for the base under the oven. Unfortunately, due to lack of experience, I do not know whether the division is impractical on some cabinets? Under the cooktop, for example, there should first be a cutlery drawer and then space for pots and pans. Does that fit?

Is there anything speaking against the white high-gloss fronts?

Is it sensible to buy the kitchen abroad? France, for example, would be easily accessible.

Instead of the Ikea dishwasher, I would like to buy the Siemens XL dishwasher mentioned several times here in the forum. Does the Ikea team also install third-party appliances? How does it work with the order: do I indicate that and the dishwasher is just removed from my shopping list? Does that also work with a cooktop (Neff would be great ;) ) and would the countertop then have the appropriate cutout even though one does not order a cooktop from Ikea?

I hope these were not too many questions and info now. ;) If you generally have a few tips or ideas for my planning, I would be very happy about your comments. Thanks in advance!

I cannot answer all questions, but at least some:

No, it’s a matter of taste. I don’t like them as much anymore, but from my own experience I can say that they are resistant and unproblematic.

You can also specify the cutouts for third-party appliances with the exact measurements; I just asked about this yesterday myself. However, the cutout is not made completely; for transport reasons, you have to make the final cuts with a jigsaw.

I would simply take a sink without a draining board. That’s what I do too. Workspace on the countertop is more important.

You would have more workspace around the cooktop if you took a regular stove/cooktop combo instead of the oven in the tall cabinet. And instead of the tall cabinet, you would then have a normal base cabinet. That would give you more space next to the cooktop again. But it’s a matter of taste what’s more important to you, countertop space or the oven being set higher. I would probably forgo the oven tall cabinet and instead add another base cabinet on the right.

I am also currently considering that. At least it would be a very simple solution to my problem.

I also thought about that at the beginning. Unfortunately, I forgot to mention in my initial post that the kitchen tiles end directly next to the base cabinet on the right and the parquet floor begins there. That means adding another cabinet to the right is not possible. Therefore, I decided on the one tall cabinet, which is also supposed to house the oven. Unfortunately, this solution is not optimal for countertop space around the cooking area. :/

Hello,
I also find a drip tray unnecessary. Besides, it tends to encourage not drying and putting things away right away. There might still be space for a 20 cm base cabinet between the dishwasher and the fridge/freezer combo if you don’t want such a silly side-by-side thing. Also, the countertop cannot rest on the dishwasher and needs at least a side support.
Doesn't the cabinet with the oven protrude too far into the window? As Thomas already wrote, you get more workspace if the oven is built under the cooktop. You can compensate for the lost space with wall cabinets. I don’t quite understand the current wall cabinet phobia.
How sensible a division of the cabinets is depends on what is to be stored in them. The cutlery under the cooktop can be practical, but also inconvenient if you don’t cook alone.
If cables need to be laid, you must have an electrician do that in advance. You shouldn’t expect too much from the IKEA assembly service.

Buying abroad only makes sense if it is significantly cheaper. Whether delivery and assembly via IKEA is then possible, you would have to inquire there. If you replace DE in the planner’s link, you get the price for the respective country displayed.
You can compare individual items at koettbilligar.de.

I have tried to implement your tips

Changes compared to before:
- Draining area removed
- 80cm sink base cabinet replaced with 60cm
- 40cm base cabinet added on the sink side
- 2 wall cabinets added
- Tall cabinet removed and oven added under the cooktop

Opinions?

Hello, if you can move the extractor hood a little, you could place an 80 cm base unit, a 60 cm stove, and an 80 cm base unit on the stove side. Or if moving it is not possible, you could still place two 80 cm base units and decouple the stove from the oven.

Why no wall cabinets on the stove side? Is the storage space sufficient as is? I think apart from glasses and white cups, you can't put anything behind the glass doors that are on the sink side.
