Hello,
We would like to place the outdoor unit of the heat pump behind the garage. It would be about 3 m away from the technical room. However, it would then be located between two buildings (my shed is 3 m away).
This location would be optimal for us in terms of visibility, because I would put up a privacy screen and would no longer see the outdoor unit multiple times. However, the heating engineer said that the sound builds up there and recommended choosing a location so that the sound can freely dissipate into open space. Now the outdoor unit is right next to my terrace. Although the connection to the technical room is perfect, I don’t know if he chose the location because of the short distance and his effort, or if it really would be too loud behind the garage. Do you have any experience?
Edit: Here you can see the outdoor unit drawn behind the garage. Now he is planning it practically on the gable next to the little piece of terrace:
