The problem basically has two dimensions: 1. Neurotypicals are in the majority – roughly the 90% of brown-eyed people – and perceive themselves as "normal"; 2. (especially highly functioning) autistics are not "recognizable" by a wheelchair or a white cane, but only by their non-participation in small talk. The "normals" therefore lack signals of consideration.

So, with us, the assessor didn’t go anywhere without us first. We went through everything together. Maybe that already helps to feel less vulnerable. If you want to skip a room, you can certainly talk to them about it. The bedroom, for example, citing privacy. I don’t think the absence of a single room photo makes a difference. Also, you are absolutely allowed to cover / drape over / throw a tarp over anything private. It’s really none of their business what your bed looks like and what pictures hang on the wall. Even if after covering (e.g., nicely throwing a sheet over everything) it looks like a mess, they can’t say anything about that. If it’s still too stressful for your wife, maybe it helps if she plans something else for the day so she’s not there? Edit: Sorry, I just read that the latter idea is a duplicate.

So, the appraiser was here. It really didn’t take 15 minutes. The lady was sent to Pflanzenkölle with her mother-in-law. Interior photos were prohibited except for a few detail shots. Bedrooms were excluded, the guest room, for example, was allowed to be walked through. Let’s see what the bank says. The "appraiser" (I don’t even know if he was a real expert, I could imagine that he just takes notes and then a real expert does everything with the documentation at the desk. It’s more efficient if he doesn’t have to drive around himself) was very understanding though.

LOL – do you think anything else will happen at the bank? It’s only important for the bank that the property is finished. Uploading photos to an e-file, ticking the box for "house is finished, no deviation from the plan," and that’s it. The processing takes much less time than your appraiser appointment. You won’t get any further feedback either. Nobody has time (and therefore money) to deal with you and your house any further. The bank’s profit only comes from mass processing (loan factory, AI, automation).

It would be great if that happens. We're just a bit paranoid. Too many bad experiences...
