You still haven't understood. There are more modern heating systems... You still haven't provided any data.

I think you are old and frustrated; you only pick what you think you want to believe, sounds just like an AfD voter. I’m an automotive mechatronics technician and for us, no updates come via WiFi not even in the car, and our charging stations have only one power cable and nothing else. Probably the whole thing was installed by an amateur who has no idea because he’s actually a baker...

Of course, you also have a crystal ball at home and know how electricity and gas prices will develop in the next years...

The federal government wants us to live greener, whether you think that’s right or not is another matter, it will happen anyway, and everyone who saved 3g CO2 has done something good for the world, Greta or not.

Well, I am 7 years older than you. Neither frustrated nor do I have a crystal ball. I had already written that resources should be conserved. And I don’t vote for the AfD either. I probably just have significantly more life experience and responsibility. I don’t know which manufacturer you work for, but large OTAs over Wifi are common. If you want to save CO2, skip building a house and take an existing property or even better an existing apartment...

Why does almost every conversation here first slide down to the personal level, and then slowly below the belt afterwards?

Hmm probably due to insufficient knowledge of the overall situation, and forums sometimes have this thing where the supposed anonymity leads some people to say things they would never say in real life.

This is not necessarily needed, you just have to think for yourself and not trust what politics etc. tell us. Do you know how many crises there have already been and that oil/gas should have run out a long time ago? They now come at a two-year interval.

Nevertheless, we live here in cozy Germany with moderate prices for fossil fuels.

Politics themselves also don’t know what they want. Nuclear energy yes/no, then no. Everything on coal oh no, then yes.

But you decided on a heat pump and that is a good thing. But that does not mean, conversely, that gas is bad and old rusty technology. In fact, modern gas boilers are extremely efficient and reliable. And just cheaper to purchase.

In my eyes, anyone who builds new and relies on gas is also living in the past. Or rather, many would like to use alternative energies, but since these are usually very expensive, gas ends up being brought into the house after all. Many who build simply have the attitude that in 30 years they will not have made back the extra costs for a heat pump, so it’s not worth it for them. It’s a shame that people think like this and prefer to treat themselves to other things and then save on that. (rather a garage for the SUV) For us, the priority has always been, if we build, then properly and future-oriented.

It’s the same with diesel; it’s a great technology but also without a future in the car sector... It will never work without diesel, e.g. in the heavy-duty sector. Likewise, you won’t be able to heat an 11-story building in Marzahn with geothermal energy. Everything just has to be used according to need.

My opinion is that geothermal energy is a great alternative and the future for a small house. Of course, the costs are still high compared to gas, but as I said, gas is getting more and more expensive every year.

Whether resources become scarce or run out while you are still alive is debatable. But it’s pretty selfish to think like that. I don’t know if any of you have children and one day grandchildren who also want to live in peace and not suffer from the consequences of your stubbornness and old-fashioned thinking.

By the way, there were already Sunday driving bans in the 1970s because oil was scarce. We are all dependent on the federal government; if they say someday you can only come into the city if you have an electric car or a bike, then that’s how it will be, or if building permits will only be given in the future if you heat without fossil energy, then that’s how it will be!

How exactly can I save energy with an existing apartment? Just because it already exists? Energy was probably used for that too, and if I build new, I create new living space for 5 people... Otherwise, you are a pretty big environmental sinner in an existing property.

We have a gas boiler that is anything but environmentally friendly and economical. We consume 17,000 kWh of gas per year for 80 sqm; you could heat three KFW 55 houses with that, and no, we don’t have 24 degrees in the apartment. Unfortunately, you’re stuck and reliant on the landlord; I can’t change anything here. On top of that, there’s the parking shortage in big cities; instead of going into the carport, I sometimes drive 3 km aimlessly around the block looking for a parking space, which also doesn’t exactly help conserve resources. I can’t produce my own electricity; I’m dependent on suppliers and their price increases, I can’t install better windows or insulation. I can’t buy an electric car because I can’t run a cable out of the window across the tram tracks, and the nearest charging station is 3 km away. I can’t go out into the garden and plant flowers for the bees.

Now say again that everything is much better for the environment in a rental apartment.
