No, not at all. It also protects against moisture directly as well as indirectly, as it, for example, protects the slurry or membrane underneath, which should not be damaged, and prevents moisture.

Yes thanks, I am really panicking. I need to calm down. I am afraid that I might have water damage and cracks in the floor slab in 10 years. I have attached a picture, dimples towards the wall, seal at the top so that no water flows in.

Because you don't read and are just panicking. And you get some information from someone. Once again. Why do you want to lay such a foil when you DON'T HAVE A BASEMENT? You don't read, don't think, don't want to listen. with the non-existent basement that the foil is supposed to seal. This is a product for basement waterproofing. As I said, you just don't read. The dimpled membrane is for protection against mechanical damage to the waterproofing (and yes, it also protects a little against moisture, because by lying against the wall with the dimples, moisture is led downward). It is NOT sealed and water can and is allowed to run behind it. Once again. You have a standard sealed house (as it looks in the pictures). If the expert cannot provide contrary information, you have already received multiple times the information on what to do. In any case, you do not have to seal a basement.

Just watch out, I may be panicking but I can still read. I just don’t understand directly since I know very little about this. I had craftsmen and companies here at the same time and everyone says something different. In the end, the inspector also messed up and said nothing. Even if I don’t have a basement, I have a slab that needs to be waterproofed. Even if the picture might be for a basement, the principle is the same. The slab also needs to be protected. I’m shocked how a developer can do something like this. And everything you write is not correct, water must not run behind it. A dimpled membrane is not the best choice, it would be good if I had been given a bitumen membrane. I only have a stripe, meaning a membrane is needed.

No. Otherwise you wouldn’t keep asking the same thing.

No. It’s not.

Why did he mess up? What was he supposed to say? Maybe there’s nothing to say because everything is okay (just as it looks).

What exactly did the developer do? What is wrong? Please specify exactly. I see nothing wrong in the pictures.

Fine, if you come from the construction industry and not me, then you know better. But then you don’t have to ask if you know everything.

But you haven’t. Because the sheet is neither mandatory nor explicitly necessary. Dimpled membrane is the correct choice now.

Who exactly says that again?

I’m out. If someone comes across so ignorant, panics and still thinks they know better, there’s no helping them anymore. It’s a waste of time.

Hello,

without going into the discussion in detail:

[*]A building always requires a structural waterproofing, here in the example the black bitumen waterproofing in the base area
[*]In addition to the structural waterproofing, there is moisture protection for the facade or the plaster, here in the example realized by slurry sealing - this waterproofing only protects the plaster, not the building.
[*]In addition to the above waterproofing, openings such as windows or doors in the ground-near area naturally require a separate sealing using sealing membranes, liquid plastics, etc.

The dimpled membrane does not have a sealing function but protects the facade from mechanical influences. There are always controversies about the correct installation of the dimpled membrane, which, in my opinion, is due to a lack of knowledge about the correct type of membrane for the respective purposes:

[*]Structural protection (sealed facades and ETICS): The right membrane for this purpose is the mentioned Delta Terraxx with fleece, where the fleece faces outward. By the flat and planar application of the smooth side on the facade, damage from point loads is prevented (pressure from dimples).
[*]Garden area: The black dimpled membrane can be used for retaining walls or similar without sealing layers. Then, depending on preference, dimples inward for ventilation or dimples outward for better mechanical protection.

If the black membrane is mistakenly used for structural protection on sealed facades, the dimples can press into the (soft) waterproofing or the ETICS. Due to settlement movements of the soil, the waterproofing or the ETICS is pulled downward and torn off. Moisture penetrates the resulting cracks.

There are also membranes with three layers. They additionally have a sliding film on the smooth side to ensure even better sliding properties on the facade.

Best regards
