I wanted to report something, namely that I looked at 6-7 houses in our new development area that are in almost the same construction phase as ours. I did not see a single house that was sealed in the way Mr. Wetzel described in "Der vergessene Anschluss" (see photo).

They looked either like our house or they had sealing applied to the clinker afterward!!! The picture clearly shows how it has to be done, but no one knows/does it!!!

How is it with you?

Hello Zizzi!

Sealing on clinker brick afterwards is botched work!

You should definitely not be satisfied with it. Unfortunately, this issue is still often swept under the rug by many construction companies (especially prefabricated house providers) following the motto: Nobody will see it anyway!

Unfortunately, water ingress can occur there, and you really don’t notice it immediately, but only when it’s too late (I have seen it myself). It can lead to massive damage under the screed and to the rising walls. I am happy to send you pictures of how it was sealed in our case.

Also fitting is the specialist article by Wetzel, "Nicht unterkellert und dennoch nass?"

Please please please don’t give in and demand a proper sealing of the floor-to-ceiling elements according to a.R.d.T., if agreed.

Addendum: The window fitter should also have raised concerns. You can possibly involve him regarding warranty.

Regards

Hi,
I had a little time to write again and thanks again to for the hint.
I’m attaching two photos of corrected sealing of floor-to-ceiling elements here. It worked without any problems.

Regards

Good day everyone,

attached you see a terrace of a terraced house. My question relates to the dimpled membrane behind the side kerbstones. The slabs were laid on 20 cm of gravel and 3 cm of sand. Is a dimpled membrane between the kerbstone/foundation and the house wall part of the recognized rules of technology? Or is it only necessary in the area of the gravel layer with regard to settlement movements?

Thanks in advance!
