We discussed 3 defects during the acceptance for which we were to be offered financial compensation. Afterwards, an additional point came up. Overall, it concerns:
[*]a wrongly placed ceiling outlet of the ventilation in the office (directly on the wall instead of further in the room) [*]a window sill that was not installed [*]a bricked-up corner in the storage room (about 20x20cm) which was not in the plans  [*]We received different stair posts than we had ordered
The stair builder offered us to correct the stair posts, but that would have caused dirt in the house again and we were shortly before moving in, so we voluntarily waived it. He also offered to manufacture the rounded head in the workshop and then glue it on. I really could not imagine that, we had ordered the rounded posts in one piece. o_O Therefore, I did not expect much monetary compensation for that, since we had rejected the corrections (I was afraid that it would look worse afterward than before). Overall, the construction company offered us a credit of 300€ for the 4 items. Do you think that is fair? I was not expecting thousands, but my gut feeling is that 300€ is not quite adequate. Maybe it’s also because the corner in the storage room annoys me enormously every day. We had put thought into the plans, including how we wanted to furnish it. Now 20cm is missing on each of the 2 long walls, so nothing fits in the way we had imagined. The head of the site manager apparently argued that this is construction-related and unavoidable. I understand that as well, but if something is construction-related, in my opinion it should be stated in the plans. Then we could have changed something in the floor plan so that the room would be usable again in a proper way. Now we have a terribly fragmented storage room. The rest is less dramatic. For the window sill, he had considered about 50€ in the 300€. Does a window sill really only cost 50€? The kitchen builder charged us 250€ for the piece of chipboard that is there now instead. :/ Looking forward to your opinions, Best regards, Kati

More than fair, because in my opinion those are not defects.

Why couldn't the windowsill be installed afterwards? The other two points are not ideal, but I would not have thought to demand a reimbursement for them. In acquaintances' case, 5 windowsills were installed too many because the general contractor forgot the verbal agreement that something different was to be installed in the bathroom, toilet, and kitchen. They were removed again, but there was no "credit" since they needed 5 fewer windowsills than agreed in the contract.

What else should it be? 300€ is actually quite reasonable. The issue with the storage room is annoying. Actually, somewhere in the contract there is a refund for each missing square meter. With 20cm x 20cm that won't even be a three-digit amount. I would accept that. I don't understand how a bricked-up corner could cause such problems. Basically, only cabinets will go in there. If provider A doesn't have a suitable selection for the corresponding dimensions, I simply go to B. Window sill 50€ is also okay... but no personnel is calculated there. 250€ for the current window sill is of course a big amount and in my opinion massively overpriced. I would probably have tried to shove that invoice on the general contractor. Not much more is possible unless there is serious conflict.

For example, you might plan to place exactly 2 water crates side by side and have arranged the space accordingly. Or the washing machine and dryer are supposed to fit exactly next to each other. I can completely understand that it annoys you!
