Is satellite television still relevant?

I am currently dealing with how I will receive the TV channels in the future. Is a SAT system with coaxial cables still up to date here or is it done differently now? Reception via the internet or distributing SAT via network cable? What are the advantages and disadvantages of the respective systems?

Do you want complete dependence on DSL? Then do it through Telekom or Vodafone. Go ahead and surrender to them 100%, they love that. Otherwise, take a dish, a Quattro LNB, and four sockets in four rooms, and you will have TV everywhere without DSL. What’s supposed to be old-fashioned about that! It works perfectly. And when the excavator tears up the phone cable during road construction again, or lightning strikes the telephone distribution box again, or the Russians hack the internet, you’re not begging in the trouble hotline queue, but watching satellite TV peacefully and don’t give a damn about anything.

I would bet a lot that SAT-TV won’t survive another 10 years. Therefore, I would provide a LAN cabling in addition to the SAT cabling.

I rather have a different opinion.

We watch very little "TV", but when we do, it’s via Amazon, Netflix, Mediathek. Whenever we want, whatever we want. In my opinion, that is the future, therefore we have neither Sat nor cable, but plenty of network outlets. If real TV were important to me, I would do it like Nordlys, but still would not skimp on the network wiring.

Watched the fishermen on ZDF on Saturday. This is not possible on the internet.

We are also only planning network cables, however plus [SAT Schüssel] and [SAT-IP Converter], hope it works stable.
