The architect's calculation considers cubic meters of enclosed space, which is significantly more accurate than the square meter approach. The 1 meter extends over 3 floors up to the roof and across the full 7 meters in width. That is already noticeable. There is simply still a room on the ground floor that we actually don't need, and upstairs we can move things closer together. Given the current developments, it is certainly not a mistake to reduce costs. This has nothing to do with my nickname but is the sad reality we have to face.
So the architect is doing the calculation? Do you have a guarantee that the price will be adhered to? With architects, it is often (not always) the case that their strength does not lie in cost calculation.
