So if I look at the real estate portals. Most of the old houses look pretty run-down. The heating is replaced when something is broken, but otherwise they exude the charm of the 70s and 80s. Or you can see that the next owner is already selling. Then at least parts have been renovated. From my point of view there are mainly two reasons. 1. You can’t. I once saw an old man crying in some handyman documentary weeks ago because a bill of 1,000 € came his way :( I found that really awful. 2. You don’t want to. Major renovations come with dirt and hassle and effort and the old existing things are still good and are used as long as they last.I don’t know – where does that thesis come from? We do that, and as far as I know many others here in the forum do too? Even in financing threads it is repeatedly discussed that there should still be enough left for that / it has to be factored in. Surely there may be people who neglect that, but I wouldn’t go along with “almost everyone.”
