Is emergency opening for blinds on the upper floor absolutely necessary?

What consequences (apart from a serious situation like a fire, etc.) can it have for me if I do not have a second escape route? Can the insurance refuse? Or are there other sanctions that could come my way?

Just insist on it .... what speaks against it?

How must an escape route be marked? Are there standards for this? I definitely can't find anything about it in our plans from 2017.

In my floor plan, it simply says "escape window" in front of the corresponding window opening.

In the building application, however, a window (in the bathroom) is explicitly designated as an emergency escape window, and at 1.87 x 1.43 it is also larger than the other non-floor-to-ceiling windows.

Did you want the window that big or did it become larger because it is the emergency escape window? An emergency escape window does not have to be that large.

I just looked it up, you are right, in BW emergency exit windows must be "at least 0.90 m wide and 1.20 m high in clear opening and must be installed no higher than 1.20 m above the finished floor level" according to § 13 Abs. 4 LBOAVO. My builder said it had to be that big because a firefighter with full breathing apparatus has to be able to get through. For me it was indifferent, the other window on this side of the house was also simply made that big so that it looks harmonious.

I just looked it up, too, in our case 2 escape routes per floor are required: - EG: front door and terrace door - OG: stairs and window 90/120 Hand cranks were not installed here either. The man from the office didn't care about that during the inspection ... but I do now
