Is an offer binding or are deviations allowed?

You just made a mistake and didn’t cover yourself. The Phaeton also needs to be earned but maybe it’s just leased. What he did is not morally reprehensible. If you change something four times and in the end still don’t have anything in writing, you don’t need to come with your own calculation.

You have to have the guts first to say: yes sure, you just started with my roof, but if you don’t send me a new offer now, you can just stop right away....

Alternatively, you already know exactly what kind of roof tile etc. the house is supposed to get half a year in advance....And you can get a completely correct offer.

Neither was the case with me.

And with the shell builder and all the other trades it also worked out. But even he has not sent me the delivery notes for the concrete despite ten requests...

What am I supposed to do now if he doesn’t want to give them to me? I just let it go. And in the future I will be even more careful about whom I hire as a craftsman.

Lesson learned for the future.

But that’s not common for employees nowadays either. Overtime is usually necessary and appropriate when there is extra work.

You can’t leave earlier just because you’re faster, can you?

And then you work a week or two for free?

Yes, sorry for the harsh words, but good craftsmen are fully booked. A friend told me recently: I don’t get rich from paperwork. They want some kind of 8 times changed offers, without me having earned a euro. I can understand the craftsman. Eventually, you argue about individual items from 8 offers. And the fact that he did extra work is undisputed. At least that’s what I’ve read. The roof has to be sealed. You could have pointed that out to him too, and in writing: you roofer, I want a roof without holes, so cost-neutral. If necessary, email.

Aha, and if he doesn’t feel like writing me a 4th offer, then what do I do? You’re contradicting yourself there. I should have insisted on a fourth, but the good craftsmen just don’t do that and now?

He had to do the extra work because it wasn’t clear to him beforehand that if he executed the roof as offered, he wouldn’t get it waterproof.

He didn’t think of that before. Only at the construction site. And for that I’m supposed to pay more?

yes, unfortunately that’s how it is with American companies ... overtime compensated ... you can work 42 hours or 60 ... salary stays the same and you don’t get more time off for it either ...
