Representable in terms of numbers. That would then be 560k with €5,500. How does it look for a child with income? Does it reduce itself or on the cost side?

Then this basement.... phew Who wants to rent or a child live in a basement with a light well...

My neighbor has a basement with a light well. Here I am always afraid that the children will fall in. and I would not live in there!

That can be done. But then the rent has to be extremely cheap and probably only someone who can't find anything else will move in, and they will leave at the next opportunity. So I would avoid that.

Oh, the idea of the basement apartment doesn’t exactly meet with enthusiasm...

I myself am currently living in a basement apartment and find it wonderful. Especially in summer. Hence the idea.
Except for the bathrooms and the utility room, all rooms are supposed to get natural daylight.
Do you have any other ideas on how to achieve maximum light exposure?

As a tenant of the apartment, I thought of Airbnb or consultants / project managers at SAP. I have often rented out my apartment in that area and received incredible prices. If it ever stands empty, we have plenty of space for guests.

Regarding the financial situation:

I earn €3100 net per month, which will increase annually by almost €500 over the next 5 years (annual gross increase of +€800-1000).
My girlfriend earns €2400 net.
With children, of course, some income would be lost for her, although she will always work at least part-time. We would probably get married with children and choose tax classes 3/5. In that case, we should always have at least €5000 net.

The consultants either go to a nice hotel and not to a basement apartment or look for something nice permanently.

Just because you like the basement doesn't mean others have to like it. I find it rather oppressive...

Friends of ours also have such a side apartment. I can also confirm that it always attracts the same clientele who are gone after 2-3 years. Young people or those with a migration background. Not meant derogatory, but it always requires renovation afterward.

The SAP consultant with a €2,000 daily rate stays at the Hilton for €130 a night.

The VAT on the brokerage commission and the notary costs for the mortgage registration are already missing in the cost statement....

To me, that already sounds somewhat creepy, the children have to live in the basement and don't even have a daylight bathroom. Just thinking about it makes me feel sorry for my children. My daughter loves her room with a floor-to-ceiling window and a view of the gardens; if I imagine now that she would have to live in the basement... I also don't believe that tenants can be found who would live permanently in such a basement apartment, there will constantly be people moving in and out and you'll have work all the time.

Best regards Sabine
