No, historically stocks have always become more expensive. There is only one way up, that's why you should invest too :)

Of course, there are always setbacks from time to time. However, if you look at the DAX development since 1959, it can be said that it has always gone upwards again. Of course, you should not buy stocks/ETFs if you need the money in a few years. However, for long-term retirement provision, in my opinion, it is a very good way to build up a large cushion. Or do you think that stocks/ETFs will be lower in 30 years than they are now?

You can quickly get an overview of the local market. At the same time, simulate such a project with a financial advisor, especially considering your equity situation. That is currently the biggest problem. It may be that you are bringing too little money. Then calculate how you can securely manage it over 30 years. In other words – if interest rates are high and prices are low in 20 years – can you still carry the project?

That is of course nonsense. Feel free to look at the S&P from 90 years ago and see where the values from back then are and whether they even still exist. Here's another example for all those who only know prices with ETFs - CIS - anyone who knew the stock market before 2000 will also know this stock. Always just gone up, like Nokia. ;) Want more? PanAm would be nice..

PS, in case there are objections right away: If everyone just blindly buys ETFs, the market won’t work anymore.

I don't know why the topic of stocks is being brought into this discussion... completely off-topic from the OP

A small insight:
- Saxony (towards Leipzig)
- My husband net: €2500 - €2700 + company car
(From 2022 another €100-200 more. Everything else is future music.)
- I net: €1300 70%
- 1 car (not financed)
- Food is bought exclusively organic. However, our garden yields a lot.
- We don't have any hobbies that cost money

Currently, it is not possible for me to work 100%, because my husband either doesn't come home at all or comes home very late.
