Uiuiui, 12 attachment points in the wall? Intense, but better too tight than too loose, if I read the comments here. Although almost everyone here says an awning of this size never holds and folds up at the slightest breeze or damages the wall. How big is your awning exactly? Which manufacturer? I found the mounting on the window grates a bit adventurous, so for me that’s out of the question anyway. If at all, then directly into the wall.

Well, the awning is 650 cm wide and exactly 400 cm deep. However, it was installed by a reputable specialist company, so it should be fine. (There are apparently precise specifications on how it must be attached, which include, for example, the mentioned injection mortar.) Of course, you shouldn’t use it during storms, but with the usual local wind (max. wind force 5), it doesn’t seem like it can’t withstand it permanently. Oh, and the manufacturer is Varisol. We are very satisfied.

What I actually wanted to say: Even if you don’t buy an awning, it’s best to avoid the company that suggested this adventurous “attachment” to you.

After the thread here, I am generally rather uncertain about what we should take/do. As mentioned, practically everyone here was against an awning because it is too large and not stable enough. But if you have 650cm x 400cm, that is even much larger than ours (450cm x 400cm). If I then calculate two attachment points per meter like you, it would be about 9 for us. An awning would still be our favorite because you save the additional supports (this is about the appearance, not the money). We also want to cover two areas, which would look significantly worse with supported shading (a total of four supports).

I saw that there is one of only 6 Markilux flagship stores in Germany directly in the neighboring town. I think we will at least go there.

You should definitely do that because securing such a heavy thing is not easy and can best be done by a professional. Therefore, from my point of view, the option to place it in front of the French balconies (possibly with a suitable spacer) is actually the only reasonable solution. For our awning, the experienced guys were busy for a good two hours with four people, excluding the electrical connection, which I did myself. The bill was around 600 euros, which I find reasonable. So it’s not something you can just do "quickly," especially because the consequences of mistakes are usually rather unpleasant.

Actually, you just have to keep in mind that boats with sails can reach high speeds, which already makes it clear that a propeller won't necessarily last long there. Since it ultimately involves a change to the communal property, I wouldn't take any risks even if all members of the homeowners' association release you from liability. If in the end the entire facade at that spot needs to be renovated (even if some insurance covers it). Wow, that'll just bring you nothing but trouble. Besides the fact that I personally would prefer two to four standing posts over an awning, I believe that with a fixed roof you will not only be safer in the end but possibly even cheaper. There is a thread here about KD roofing with many testimonials and pictures. Just skim through it, maybe you'll change your mind.

print out your photos, draw paint scribble the different solutions on them, sit in your garden and let the pictures affect you. Ask the government and acquaintances for their impression. I have already been overruled angrily, and factual arguments often decide about the function and durability.
