As mentioned, we have a south-facing side. Meaning in summer the sun blasts into the dining room on the left side. We can't even put the blinds down there, otherwise we wouldn't be able to get out anymore.
Also, the sun moves to the left. Meaning left is west. The sunlight then comes in sideways. We wouldn't be sitting in the shade from afternoon/evening onwards.
Next to the raised bed there's now a water feature. But it's not finished yet. The net and the stones around it are still missing.

Oh yes, regarding costs. Both options would cost between €8,600 (Resobox) and €8,900 (Carmabox) including installation.

One more question about this. Do you think a large awning is more susceptible to wind than two side by side? It shouldn't actually make a difference, right? Both are specified as wind resistance class 2, which corresponds to wind force 5.

Yes, a large awning is more susceptible to wind. Ours was 5x4 and when it was extended and there was a slight wind, it bent extremely. It's basically like a sail. Due to the construction, ours was also hung on the roof rafters because it shouldn't be attached to the timber frame. So if it got too windy, we retracted it. When we sold it in 2018, after 6 years, it looked like new. We now have a fixed patio roof.

Yes. That’s simple physics. Ultimately, you are attaching a "sail" to the house. The forces acting are enormous. That both have the same wind resistance class depends on the design of the supporting structure.
The "smaller" variant with 2 awnings (still large sails) also has the advantage of more flexible use.

Hm, ok. Was almost back to the single awning again. Ah, stupid decision. I can already see, when it's finally there.... Murphy's law....
