Hi ,
so I see the following alternatives:
Either what says. I would add that you could possibly work with a very narrow sideboard that you place behind the sofa and which is roughly the same height as the sofa. In home theater operation, I would then actually point the speakers to the ceiling or even backwards. This creates a kind of dipole effect, i.e. a diffuse sound effect at the listening position. Alternatively, this could also serve as stereo sound at the dining table.
Getting power there might be more of a problem, but maybe you can install floor sockets under the sofa?
Then my alternatives A and B: Here I would suggest wall mounting at 1.4-1.5m (acoustically better, or just above 2m for the look).
Either with an adjustable wall bracket or a small shelf, very plain in wall color, on which you can also align the speaker to different listening positions.
A would be better for home theater.
B would be better to achieve even sound distribution in music mode (while eating or at a party). You could also work with tall side tables/console tables or similar here (about 1-1.2m height).
How high is the cabinet/display case at the top of the plan in the dining area? If not too high, you can also place a speaker there and only need to install the other one on the wall.
I would avoid installation in or directly under the ceiling. Acoustically it is simply not optimal, but it can be done.
Working without a center is also possible, but then dialogue intelligibility is limited and the listening experience is very position dependent. The so-called phantom center can only be optimally calibrated for one listening position. As I said, it should be possible with Sonos to define a One as the center. Whether it fits under or above your TV, I obviously can’t say. Ideally, all front speakers should be placed at the same height.
Best regards
Tolentino
