Hello everyone,

we are facing the decision of whether to get an insect protection sliding door for our PSK terrace door directly from the builder (for 975 euros) or to have the installation done afterwards. Corresponding kits will probably be found online for less money, but would there be any advantage if the builder installs it? He would only mount it on the outside of the frame or in front of the roller shutter box anyway?

Warranty, if he somehow breaks the window. Would do it myself.

Above all, did you have the opportunity to look at and try out the manufacturer’s solutions? We initially wanted to order all windows/doors/sliding doors including insect screens. The quality was so bad. Everything jammed and could not be moved smoothly. We decided against it and had a regional company install them afterwards. From our parents-in-law, we knew what to expect because they had a screen installed by the same company. It was the right decision. We now have two sliding pleated blinds, whose stops can be moved to the right and left as we currently need. Standard terrace door, 1mx2.30m plus sliding door element, 1.60mx2.30m for €1,700 gross.

Have a proper insect screen (e.g., Neher) installed afterwards by a specialist company. Then you will at least get something high-quality.

Find out the brand/model, then you can still decide. It should have been visible during the sampling.

With sliding doors, it’s usually only a matter of days before someone runs into them for the first time. Although it is the clean solution, I would still prefer to use a seasonal hanging solution (lamella curtain made of fly screen, for example).
