Hello everyone,
thanks for the numerous replies!
Puuuuhh, so it's not that easy after all. I'll have to sort everything out first...
Best regards, Sven

Warranty is not the issue for "sanding or not sanding," it is already void because of paint, stain, oil or something else ...

The surface structure is lost if you sand incorrectly, that's why I described the method above.

When I think about what I have done privately and professionally which I did not want/excluded before and then still did because it was the only sensible way...

Excluding something out of ignorance beforehand is not a dogma, is it :eek:

zetterberg,

since you are obviously an employee yourself, you should know that such suggestions are treated with caution. You recommend to the OP that he grinds and cuts a front for 51€ on a whim??? What is that supposed to mean??? Also nice that you are skilled in craftsmanship, there are actually people who are not and for this reason ask such questions!

What you see as the only sensible way, especially on a professional level, does not always have to be right for the company. See e.g. the topic of warranty. To then stick your neck out like that...? You don’t seem to particularly like your job...

Therefore please refrain from such suggestions in the future or at least mention what risks are involved for the customer.

@Nayla,

I don’t know how you come to the conclusion that I am an employee?

The warranty would be void anyway because of paint, stain, oil, or do the Ikea warranty terms say otherwise?

The OP wants the front (veneer) to be darker, sanding it down is ruled out because of the groove. I have shown a way how he can remove/roughen the paint without destroying the surface structure. What the front costs and whether the OP can implement this is his decision, not mine or yours or Ikea’s.

Where exactly have I overstepped?

And yes, I like my job.

Oh, and if I had such a nice furniture showroom around me every day, I wouldn’t have advised the OP to saw the front after sanding to see how much material is left, I would have measured and said yes or no.

Is it actually forbidden to alter Ikea products structurally and in terms of color according to your own taste? :rolleyes:
