Hello everyone,

we are currently trying to assemble our first Ikea kitchen - and so far we are actually very satisfied. Only the assembly of the Faktum base cabinet 40 cm with drawer and pull-out is causing us some problems. The supplied front (Abstrakt white) only has the drill holes for "normal" door hinges. Neither the assembly instructions for the cabinet nor those for the Rationell drawers show how the front is attached. Unfortunately, the call to the Ikea Service Center was not successful this time, as they only referred us to the assembly instructions on the internet. Either I am completely blind or there really isn’t one there for the cabinet with pull-out... How do I attach the front?

Also, I would be interested to know how you have attached your wall cabinets? "Only" with screws?? My old kitchen had those "hooks" that hung on a rail...

Best regards
Andrea

Hello,

my answer is admittedly late but maybe it still helps or helps others seeking assistance.

As Brotos already wrote, you need a template. It is made of paper and unfortunately is neither included with the door nor the drawer, and there is no indication about it anywhere (except on the internet), and I would say most IKEA employees, at least regarding the Frankfurt branch, have no idea about it either.

Unfortunately, it’s not just the template but other parts that you need for assembling the front doors like Applad or Hälvig with a Rationell pull-out. These doors are initially only intended for installation with hinges and have to be modified to be used as pull-out fronts with a Rationell pull-out. (There is an extended manual for Rationell on the internet where you can find this information.)

Here are the additional parts. You get these parts from IKEA service upon request.
1. Template (for right and left) IKEA ID AA-297701-1
2. Two round plastic inserts per door to be inserted into the hinge holes IKEA ID 117571, whereby one insert is only a cover (top). Included are small nipples to be inserted into the small screw holes next to the large hinge holes.
3. Screws IKEA ID 109598. These are used to screw the two plastic holders (which are later plugged into the front of the Rationell drawer) into the still-to-be-made holes on the front plate.
4. Two parts IKEA ID 117570 with screws IKEA ID 109535. These two small round parts are screwed into the holes to be made with the template instead of the round plugs included in the Rationell package. These parts receive the round rods on the right and left of the Rationell drawer.

Procedure:
Insert the gray round plastic inserts into the holes of the hinges on the front door. If stiff, carefully press/hammer them in flat with a piece of wood.
Then position the paper template at the bottom right and bottom left of the door and use a center punch, nail drill, or scriber to exactly transfer the three holes from the template onto the door. One of these holes will fall exactly onto the plastic insert in the round groove. Therefore, you cannot mark this hole precisely. But that doesn’t matter because the groove provides sufficient guidance when screwing in.
Then I would carefully widen the pre-marked points on the front door slightly with, e.g., a 2mm drill bit. Be careful not to drill deep but only about max. 5mm deep so that the screws will be easier to screw in.
Then screw in the two vertically standing holders (part no. 117552) on the right and left. As mentioned, with the round plastic inserts you hit the groove with one screw. Tighten the screws well.

Then screw on the small round parts part no. 117570.

With that, the doors are prepared for receiving and connecting with the Rationell drawer pull-out as intended and as depicted in IKEA’s catalogs.

By the way: the aforementioned missing parts are contained in a completely different package that you normally do not need at all. You have to know that first, and IKEA employees should point this out to customers given this strange logic (which is actually illogical). At least at the Frankfurt Nieder Eschbach branch, which I find overall unfriendly to customers, no employee knew this except one woman at the service desk. I only learned this from a woman at service after asking at IKEA on-site for the fifth time. Really a scandal. But this might only concern the Frankfurt branch.

Good luck with the assembly
JR

With me, there was a bag with all the - very useful and absolutely necessary - parts along with the equally necessary drilling template at the front of the middle drawer: Rationell 401.300.90

Greetings and thanks for the instructions, Joe! I was a bit confused yesterday until I finally found the accessories. I thought they had delivered the wrong doors to me.

Is it normal for the drawer of this base cabinet (for us, it is the FAKTUM base cabinet with wire baskets) to close with quite a force? As if a strong magnet were pulling it in. In my case, you push it in up to a certain position, and from there it is almost ripped out of your hand. When it hits the cabinet, even the neighboring cabinets shake briefly, and if there are cutlery items in the drawer, you can hear that very clearly as well.

Is it like this for everyone? Or have we installed something incorrectly? Or is something defective? Does anyone know this problem?

Hello
something is not right here, nothing may be shaken or I would install the dampers.

best regards bergpriv
